Presented by SURF Music, The Musix, and Victor Entertainment We’re thrilled to announce a remix opportunity for one of Japan’s most iconic New Music hits of the 1980s: Mariko Takahashi’s “Momoiro Toiki.” Starting today, August 1st (Fri), the official remix contest is now live on the SURF Music platform! Originally released in 1984 and written by Chinfa Kan and composed by Takashi Sato, “Momoiro Toiki” became a nationwide sensation, featured in major TV commercials and performed at the 35th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. First Round Selections will be digitally released under Mariko Takahashi’s name via Victor Entertainment in early October. Selected remixers will receive 10% royalties based on Victor’s standard royalty policies. Remixers will be contacted by Sept 5 and must submit all final materials by Sept 8. Your artist name (max 15 characters) will be printed on the official release cover designed by Victor.

Born in Hakata, Fukuoka, Mariko Takahashi rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the band Pedro & Capricious, debuting with the smash hit “Message for Johnny” in 1973. She later launched a solo career, releasing beloved tracks like “for you…,” “Gomen ne…,” “Hagayui Kuchibiru,” and “Haruka na Hito e.” A five-time NHK Kouhaku performer and recipient of numerous accolades — including the Tokyo Music Festival Gold Prize and Japan Record Awards Album of the Year — Mariko has also graced legendary venues like Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. In 2024–2025, she successfully completed her final national tour: Mariko Takahashi Concert FINAL 2024–2025 “EPILOGUE.”
